Testimonial

“I approached Sandra because my elderly father-in-law was struggling with multiple complex chronic health issues, and we needed expert guidance on how to use nutrition to improve his treatment outcomes and quality of life. Sandra helped me by creating a personalized nutrition plan tailored to his specific medical conditions and dietary restrictions. She educated our family on which foods to incorporate and which to avoid, explaining the reasoning behind each recommendation in an easy-to-understand manner.

The result was meaningful improvements in our parent's overall well-being. We noticed a reduction in some of his symptoms, particularly edema. More importantly, his blood sugars decreased dramatically and meal times became enjoyable again, rather than a source of stress and uncertainty.

One thing I liked about Sandra was her compassionate approach and ongoing support. She truly became a partner in how we feed and care for our parent—always willing to answer our questions. I found the experience to be transformative for those of us who are taking on the bulk of the meal prep for our loved one. Sandra's expertise in these specific areas gave us peace of mind.

I would recommend Sandra to people who need expert nutritional guidance for complex health issues, especially those dealing with chronic conditions where diet plays a crucial role in treatment and quality of life.”

Meet Sandra Wilkes

at Sandhills Nutrition

Hi! I was born and raised in a small rural town in North Carolina that’s only an hour and a half from Pinehurst! I received my bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science from North Carolina State University followed by a master’s degree in Nutrition from Brooklyn College. Thereafter, I completed a dietetic internship program to become a registered dietitian from Southern Regional Healthcare in Atlanta, GA. I’ve been a dietitian for a decade with experience in both the hospital and clinic settings. I love everything about food, nutrition, and all things culinary!

During my childhood, I spent many years helping out at my parent’s restaurants and cooking with my grandmother at home. In my family, cooking a meal for someone was the essence of expressing love. I’ve always enjoyed experimenting new recipes in the kitchen. My goal is to empower people to make small and realistic adjustments, which will help to create healthy and sustainable dietary and lifestyle habits. Nutrition is a science and cooking is a skill - I believe it’s crucial to bridge the gap between understanding the science of nutrition and learning the skills to prepare/cook healthy foods to better achieve personal health goals.

Aside from my nutrition career, I enjoy spending time with my three young children (ages 7, 5, 3) and husband. I love to stay active - you can probably find me doing yardwork, exercising, playing tennis, cooking or chasing my kids around when I’m not with clients!
